Mr. John Busbin, age 87 of 404 Lakeview Street passed away on Monday, February 16, 2009 at Christian Ministries Hospice. Mr. Busbin was born on November 21, 1921 in Spalding County. He is the son of the late Lillie C. Tice and the late John Thomas Busbin. He was preceded in death by brother, Lamar Busbin and sister, Asenith Crawford. He was an active member of the Highland United Methodist Church. He retired after 45 years with Crompton-Highland Mills. He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served in Europe for three years in World War II under the command of General George S. Patton where he fought at the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Busbin is survived by his wife, Mrs. Helen Hand Busbin of 63 years; daughter, Margaret and Roy Varnom of Griffin; son, Charles and Pam Busbin of Thomasville; grandchildren, Laura and David York, Royce Varnom; step-grandchildren, Justin and Shannon Hicks, Ryan and Eve Hicks; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Davis York. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Reverend Herb Flanders will officiate. Interment will follow in Westwood Gardens. Friends may visit the family Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Highland United Methodist Church, 2009 Old Atlanta Road, Griffin GA 30223 in memory of Mr. Busbin.
